The National Training Academy in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, organized a youth dialogue session on the amendment of the law governing NGOs and civil society organizations “Law No. 70 of 2017”, at Markaz Geizert el Shabab. This was an implementation of one of the recommendations proposed during the 2018 World Youth Forum.
The session was attended by Dr. Rascha Ragheb, Executive Director of the National Training Academy, a representative from the Ministry of Social Solidarity, a number of youth representing the parties, the State Affairs Committee and members of the Presidential Program.
Dr. Rascha Ragheb opened the session by greeting and thanking all the attendees and expressed how that the Academy was keen to hold this constructive dialogue in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and that the event came off one of the President’s recommendations during the 2018 World Youth Forum. One of the questions raised, from one of the youth representatives, was on the extent of the possibility to amend Law 70 regulating NGOs, which confirms the keenness of the political arm to listen to the serious and constructive youth perspective and take account. Dr Rascha stressed that the presence of a strong civil society is a fundamental guarantee of accountability and transparency and strengthens the democratic system of the state.
Dr. Nevine Osman, Advisor to the Social Solidarity Minister, spoke about the social dialogues held during the past period, and that the role of the Ministry of Social Solidarity was as a guest of honor in cooperation with the General Union of Civil Societies and NGOs. She hoped that the recommendations and dialogues of the session will be in the interest of voluntary work in Egypt.
