Management of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), to be held in Egypt, announces that the National Alliance for Civil Development Work (NACDW) will supervise volunteer management and their selection while the Alliance’s National Training Academy (NTA) will train the volunteers on the roles they will play during the Forum. The steering committee of the World Youth Forum (WYF), simultaneously, will organize and coordinate the activities and events of the WUF12 as part of their continuations in organizing major and international events that have been taking place in Egypt for the last few years.
Egypt receives delegations of senior officials and personalities from many countries to participate in the World Urban Forum (WUF12), organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) in cooperation with Egypt’s Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities and the Ministry of Local Development on November 4–8, 2024. The Forum is one of the most prominent and important global events on the United Nations agenda, as it is considered the most important event on urbanization and inclusive sustainable urban development around the world.
Launching this international event from Egypt, as the first African host country in 20 years, reflects country’s pioneering and strategic role on the international and regional levels as a center for development, urbanization, and peace and the exceptional development Egypt undertook in promoting integrated urban development as one of the leading countries to adopt the new urban agenda. Many huge national and urban projects in Egypt were an example ranging from 4th generation cities and projects to the improvement of citizens’ life quality through the Decent Life project and the elimination of slums. In addition, there is exceptional development in utilities and infrastructure such as water, sewage, electricity, and other vital projects nationwide. All these endeavours reflected positively on the lives of citizens and strengthened Egypt's classification in many international indicators.
Over the course of 5 days, the World Urban Forum (WUF12) will host thousands of participants from around the world, including regional and international representatives from governments, companies, community leaders, city planners, and civil society organizations. It will also feature more than 500 events, an expanded urban exhibition, and Cairo Urban Week, which is a group of activities that connect the Forum with society.
